After the EMDR processing session you may feel very tired and for a few days afterwards, you may or may not experience strong emotion or thoughts of things you haven't thought of for a long time, while your brain makes sense of the material we have processed.  Not everyone experiences the strong emotions and thoughts and as such is very individual.

As part of your treatment we will spend a few sessions beforehand providing you with strategies to manage the strong emotions should they present after the therapy.  We will also teach you how to self-regulate and self soothe to make sure your EMDR experience is a positive one.  

​

Most people experience a sense of calmness straight after a session and then after a few days experience new positive insights.

​

Support is available post session should you need it.
